Volunteer for local community groups. Very new to I.T. I was a an activist within the worlds of higher and distant education. We had a very wide and active, articulate student body but cuts,national and local in adult education in the mid 80s/90s and the results made our little unit folded. We couldn't survive. Goldsmith's Outreach Project had to fold. We couldn' run on pennies.However, our reputation preceded us we were offered lttle bits of work here and there. We had punched over our weight.
